Ernesto “Che” Guevara on Karl Marx:
The merit of Marx is that he suddenly produces a qualitative change in the history of social thought. He interprets history, understands its dynamic, predicts the future, but in addition to predicting it (which would satisfy his scientific obligation), he expresses a revolutionary concept: the world must not only be interpreted, it must be transformed. Man ceases to be the slave and tool of his environment and converts himself into the architect of his own destiny.
Everything you want to know about Marxism.
I thank you for this post and the quote. Perhaps, as a small educational tool to promote socialist consciousnes and education, the home page could feature a quotation box. Within the box could a short, pithy, but essential quotation that would define and explain common terms that newcomers to the PFP site may be unsure or only have “fuzzy” knowledge.
The quotation box could be changed on a weekly basis perhaps. Readers of the PFP might want to suggest their favorite quotes, with perhaps the Webmaster making the selection and posting. Each quote should tell the author, the article or book source, and a link provided to the work from which the quotation is selected.
Some judgement might be advised to avoid simple slogans, cliches, etc.

Also, I would suggest an additional item on the home page item:
“Peace and Freedom Party Issues Call for Moratorium”
to add the term “and the cutoff of utilities.”
The reason: On WSWS in recent months, in Detroit Michigan, where there
is massive unemployment and impoverishment, the local utilities such as heating
and electricity were cut off causing deaths in several cases. One entire family died
of carbon monoxide poisioning because of a small gasoline powered generator
installed to temporarily provide electricty depleted the oxygen. Impoverished people often use gas stoves to heat their aparment when the heating service is shut off for
non-payment.
Another Detroit senior in winter froze to death in his home when the utilities were
shut off. All public and privatized utilities should be mandated by law to maintain
service and not cut off services. Utilities should be required to establish a reserve
fund for such cases and procedures established to investigate non-payment of
bills. Local social service agencies should automatically be involved in such cases
to ascertain the root problem and to provide services to remedy the inability to pay
utilities bills.
Utility shutoffs are common here in LA and have resulted in much suffering and
sometimes deaths. The PFP should raise hell about this elevating of profit above
human life.
